August 21st

Good morning, well here where I live it morning, I was talking to my wife, Deb; about this blog, writing 2-3 times a week is getting harder ( work, other commitments ) so I’m thinking of writing once a week and maybe with a theme or thought of the week. My prayer is that we are seeking the Lord in every aspect of our lives, there is a lot of distractions around trying to keep our eyes off Jesus, okay; here we go. Yesterday’s and today’s in our daily reading we are in Psalm 37, and the thought is the contrast from Gods view of the Godly and wicked, although this to Israel, but also applies to those who have the faith of Abraham, ( see Romans 4:16 ) Psalm 37 starts out like this in verse one “Don’t worry about the wicked or envy those who do wrong” it’s the thought that the Holy Spirit wants David ( and us ) to know…there are wicked people around, they don’t have faith like Abraham, the whole Psalm 37 is is a reminder who is in control and who is not…look at verse two “For like grass, they soon fade away. Like spring flowers, they soon wither” I don’t know if you like planting flowers in your garden, they are green and colorful but after a short time they are pulled up and no longer there, they wither, I believe here that God wants His children to look through the lens of eternity…if we look at our life that way, then those around us who are wicked, will be gone, oh they boast and make threats and may have some limited power to control but it’s only a short time…lets look at a couple more verses, 7 ” Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes” this is that limited power but look at God’s response… verse 12 states ” The wicked plot against the Godly; they snarl at them in defiance. But the Lord just laughs, for He sees their day of judgement coming” this thought is in the view of eternity, here are some encouraging truths verse 18 “Day by day the LORD takes care of the innocent and they will receive an inheritance that will last forever” and lastly verses 23-24 “the LORD directs the steps of the Godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand” Whew ! for us who know our glorious God and Savior this life here in the flesh will not last forever, we are looking for our Savior to come and takes us to our home. BUT… those who cause harm are blinded, and we who know Jesus must live our lives in such in a way that glorifies God by blessing our enemies ( see Matthew 5:44 )

God Bless,

Dave and Debbie
